ADVANCED OBEDIENCE

Advanced obedience includes Basic Obedience, but we add the Place Command, Off Leash Recall (come when called) & Remote Collar Training which can be used for off-leash activity and to sharpen other obedience.

Advanced obedience requires the owner to purchase a remote collar (electrostatic signal, not a shock), which costs about $200.00, in addition to training fees. Mo is always happy to show the collar and demonstrate its signal for you before you commit to Advanced obedience.

BEHAVIOR REHABILITATION

Behavior rehabilitation is a very individual process. The needs of the dog and the capacity of the owner to address more serious behavior concerns will be factored into a game plan for rehabilitation.

Mo will take cases that include aggression toward dogs, aggression toward humans, leash and barrier reactivity, as well as various forms of anxiety, insecurity and social challenges with humans or dogs. For behaviors that pose a risk to humans or other dogs, Mo is committed to providing an assessment that is honest and promotes realistic expectations for the owners.

First step: An initial assessment with foundational work to thoroughly evaluate the dog and develop an understanding of environment and the human dynamic as it relates to the dog. This session will last up to 2 hours and it is done in the home. Cost is $225.00

Next Steps: Mo will write up a recommended game plan with options for the owner related to time and financial investment. Depending on the dog and her/his home, the game plan may involve in-home work, a day care program, or Mo may recommend a board & train which involves staying with Mo 24/7 for at least 2 weeks, sometimes longer. Most often, the dog will require some combination of strategies and the program will be stretched over time.

The best choice for rehabilitation programs depend on the issue, the dog, the humans and what plan, or combination of plans, are required. Mo will design a strategy that is as budget-friendly as possible, with the welfare of the dog (and humans) taking priority. Call or text Mo (502-909-2759) to talk about your dog and learn more.

OFF-LEASH RECALL & REMOTE COLLAR TRAINING

For anyone who wants to sharpen their dog’s recall and build a strong and reliable compliance when calling your dog, this training is for you.  We use a Mini Educator Remote Collar, which will cost about $200, but it is absolutely worth investing in a quality collar.  If owners already have a remote collar of similar quality, Mo can use that collar.  But we will not use lower quality collars. Do not purchase a remote collar until you have spoken with Mo.

The training method is often referred to as “Escape Training” and it is non-punitive.  We find the dog’s lowest level of the electro-stimulation level and start there to introduce the signal and the collar to the dog.  The training process builds the dog’s understanding that the electro-stimulation signal is a cue, just like the “come” or “here” commands.  Ultimately, the dog learns that she can shut off the signal by complying with the command that goes with it.  (The dog can “escape” the signal through compliance).  This training method builds confidence & connection with the human and promotes a relaxed relationship with the remote collar.

2-Day Mini Camp

The dog comes to Mo’s home for two consecutive days for 4 hours per day.  During those two days, Mo will establish a relaxed relationship with the remote collar, as well as an understanding of it’s connection to the human and to the recall command.  By the end of the two days, the dog will be at ease with the tool and have a solid novice level of compliance with off leash recall.  On the day after the mini camp, Mo will do an in-home session with the owners to teach them how to use the remote collar, as well as how to practice and build stronger compliance over time.

Cost = $550, plus the cost of the remote collar

5-Day Off Leash Training Camp

The 5 day camp is held for 5 consecutive days, Monday – Friday, for 4 hours per day.  With this longer camp opportunity, Mo will build a stronger and more reliable level of compliance than in the 2 day program.  The dog will have a response that is strong enough to take her places where off leash activity is permitted.  She will still need more practice to build her compliance in various real world situations.  **

On the Saturday following the camp, Mo will do an in-home session to teach the humans how to use the remote collar and how to build their own skills through practice, as well as increase their dog’s ability to perform in real world situations.

Cost = $800, plus the cost of the remote collar

NOTE:  Regardless of which off leash camp your dog attends, the human(s) must take the time to learn and practice consistently to build their own remote collar skills.  IF THE HUMAN IS NOT COMPETENT AND WELL-PRACTICED WITH THE REMOTE COLLAR, THE DOG WILL NOT BE SUCCESSFUL

ONE & DONE

Some dog owners just need a little bit of support to get themselves on track with their dog.  Those folks don’t want to get caught up on “programs” and commitments if they feel that they can achieve their goals with some insights, suggestions and direction from a professional.

Mo will come to your home for a single visit to help you problem solve, strategize and to coach you as needed to meet your goals.

FEES FOR ONE & DONE: The One & Done session costs $275 and usually lasts 2 hours

As with all services, Mo will continue to be available to you for calls, texts and to connect you to video and other resources that will support your efforts at no charge.

VIDEO COACHING

Not available for Rehab cases unless Mo has already worked with your dog

If we are too far from each other to do in-home sessions and you feel like you can get the job done with support and coaching along the way, Mo will be happy to FaceTime, Zoom, etc. to coach you via video calls.

VIDEO COACHING FEES: Calls will last up to one hour.  The cost of each call is $150.
